Nursing education is considered as one of the most promising careers today, with available jobs worldwide and competitive salaries at stake to qualified nurses.

But those registered nurses who completed either a two-year associate degree nursing (ADN) program or a three-year hospital-based or diploma program should not get contented with what they had already obtained since further Nursing education could also mean advancement in their Nursing career.

One way to climb up toward the managerial ladder is to pursue a baccalaureate program in nursing to earn a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), which is now the minimum educational requirement to practice nursing in the United States.

Taking the baccalaureate program also means advancing the knowledge and skills of nurses in so far as health care delivery is concerned. This is to keep at pace with the changing system of health care, aside from giving them more employment opportunities.

A baccalaureate degree provides more options to a nurse, whether he or she wants to specialize in public health, program planning, supervisory or community clinic works, or other fields of specialization.

With BSN as the new minimum educational requirement to practice nursing, new entrants are required to enroll in a four-year nursing course and passed state board examinations before they can practice.

For those who are already registered nurses, taking the baccalaureate program can be an option for them. But if they want to gain more knowledge and be skilled enough to deliver appropriate health care services, the baccalaureate degree is one good option for them to grow professionally.

Nurses with advanced nursing education can become clinical specialists, good leaders, nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse specialists, or the best health care provider in any other area he or she may wish to focus on. This degree could also pave the way for a much higher compensation.

Throughout their nursing career, a nurse needs to get updated with the current trends and be at pace with the changing health system. Gone are the days when a nurse only provides bedside care to patients. Now, nurses can influence legislation, do research on health promotion, supervise other nurses, and do other things for the betterment of the nursing profession.

If you belong to this group who had a noble vision of uplifting the nursing profession, then take the baccalaureate program and contribute to the advancement of the health care delivery system.
